So I have been too busy to post anything recently, but I intend to fill everyone in on everything that has happened since I left for Japan, so I will start with my flight.
I think it is safe to say that my flight to Japan was one of my worst flights ever. For starters, it was about 11 hours long, and sitting for that long is never fun… Also, my stomach started hurting, and I thought I was going to be sick. Also, the worst part, I spilled cranberry juice all over myself (I was wearing a white shirt, so it stained, also, I was all wet, sticky, and smelled funny). I did watch 3 movies, two of which I didn't really want to watch, but they had the Nodame Cantabile movie! After the flight, we had a 6 hour drive from Narita to our hotel in Ichinomiya. I thought that this would be much better than the flight, because I could look at Japan the whole way. It WAS a lot better, but I ended up falling asleep a few times, and it got dark, so I didn't see that much of Japan. Also, they served us bentos for dinner on the bus, which were full of fish, plus my stomach was still a little upset, so I just didn’t eat dinner.
Our hotel is a Japanese style one, and it is pretty nice, and very cozy. I am sharing a room with Kiara, Candace, and Helen, who are all really cool. So in our hotel, there is a public bath, and that is the only bath. For those people who don’t know what this means, I will explain. There is a room where everyone is naked, and sits on little stools scrubbing themselves, then they all get into a big hot bath and soak for a while. This was too quick and unexpected of a culture shock for a few of us… mostly me, but we eventually all got over it, and decided that this experience helped us to bond faster. (lolz) We got to bed a little after 1:00, and I got to sleep around 2:00. Side note: Futons are very comfortable!
I woke up at about 4:30 in the morning, and couldn’t get back to sleep. Afraid to wake up my roommates, I found my way to the balcony, and stood out there and read. It was a nice morning. We ate breakfast at the hotel, which was once again not very vegetarian friendly. I ended up having some rice with seaweed and tea. I then got a BOSS coffee from the vending machine, fearing that I would collapse later from lack of sleep, even though I didn’t feel tired at the time. I fell in love, that is a delicioius drink…. I have wasted so much money already on drinks from vending machines! Also, just a side note, I love C.C. Lemon, that stuff is delicious! And Pocari Sweat is pretty good too!
I think I’ll post this, and put the rest in another post, so I can make sure to get SOMETHING up tonight! So stay tuned!
