My super fun sleepover

9/17/2010
I know there was something I wanted to say about this day, but I don't remember anything interesting happening before lunch....
ok, so for lunch we had sandwiches :/ After lunch I had math, which is making more and more sense to me everyday. This is the first time in 3 years that I actually feel like I can understand maths. Kiara and I have fun sometimes when we understand concepts running up to the chalk board and working through problems. This is totally different from every other high school math experience I've had.
After math is Japanese. I just worked by myself again today. But everyone was told that they have a test on tuesday, so after class, Iwama sensei came to talk to me and Paul about what to do for our tests. Since Paul is only a few chapters ahead of the class, he is just going to take the same test as everyone else... Iwama Sensei asked what I had been studying, so I showed her, and looking through my workbook, she said that there was no need to give me a test, but that she would anyway. She asked if I wanted to do it over one chapter (the first one I studied) or two chapters (including the chapter I'm currently studying) so I said two, because I'd rather be tested over this chapter while it's still fresh in my mind. I had not, however, finished the chapter, so I have a lot of studying to do this weekend... Luckily we have monday off.
The plan was to go home with Mizutani sensei after school. (Mizutani sensei is the beginner Japanese class teacher, and my host mom's sister). Also, Suet-yee kept getting upset with me, because she wanted me to stay over at her house this night, so she kept saying "I got ditched for a teacher!" To which I would reply that I would have a super fun sleepover with Mizutani sensei. Anyway, So I waited for Mizutani sensei at the school. I left the room I was in to see if she was ready to go, she was still in a meeting though, so I ran into Nyssa and Ben. Nyssa told me that they were discussing having me take the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) which is I think in December. I said that that was very scary, and Nyssa told me it wasn't that scary, and that she had taken it, and it was a little scary. haha. So when Mizutani sensei came to say she was ready to go, she started talking about the JLPT. I really think that the teachers overestimate my Japanese skills.
Then I walked to the train station with all three Japanese teachers, and went to Nagoya, and then rode the subway in Nagoya to get to Mizutani sensei's house. On our walk home, we went to an Indian restaurant for dinner (because she knew that I love curry), so we got some delicious vegetarian curry! It was so good! It was also sort of weird going to an Indian restaurant in Japan. It was just like an Indian restaurant in America, except that everyone speaks in Japanese.
Mizutani sensei has 3 sons, but they're all like in their 40's now, so they don't live with her, but she has a big house for all of them when they did live with her. Also, her husband wasn't home, so it was just the two of us in a rather large house (with lots of dolls in it), it was kinda weird. Also, the room that I slept in was almost totally empty. There were some guitars, and some books, and a desk. There wasn't a bed either, we had to pull a futon out, but it was a large room, and most of the floor was just empty space.
Also, the living room of her house is beautiful! It is the Japanese style room, so it has a bunch of awesome looking dolls, and a big butsudan, and all sorts of awesome stuff!
So today is actually saturday, and I intended to write both blog posts tonight, but I am totally exhausted (which you will see why in my next blog post), so this will have to wait until tomorrow, although I probably won't wake up until like 3 in the afternoon. Also, just a side note, thanks to Kiara, I caught Arashi on tv tonight! ureshii~
